AFC Wimbledon defender Riley Horan extends loan at Walton & Hersham

Walton & Hersham FC have announced that defender Riley Horan will remain on loan from AFC Wimbledon until the end of the season.

Riley first joined the Swans for the latter part of last season and made an immediate impression, scoring on his debut in a 1-1 draw with Basingstoke Town. He went on to feature in eight games and played a key role in helping Walton & Hersham secure the Surrey Senior Cup, beating Dorking Wanderers 3-1 to claim the club’s first county title since 1973.

Following that success, Riley returned to the Swans on a short-term deal at the start of this season. He made his second debut in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Dorchester Town and has since made 15 appearances. Despite facing an injury setback in his second spell, Riley fought hard to return to fitness in December and helped the team secure a string of wins over the festive period.

In an interview with Walton & Hersham FC, Riley said of the loan extension:

“I’m absolutely buzzing to extend my time here. To be a part of such an unbelievable group of lads trying to achieve something special this season is very exciting.”

Currently sitting top of the Southern League Premier South, Walton & Hersham have had a remarkable season so far, with 19 wins, 3 draws, and just 1 defeat in 23 games. Riley’s defensive power, experience, and leadership on the pitch will be key as the Swans look to maintain their momentum in the second half of the season and push for promotion.

From his debut goal to his role in the Surrey Senior Cup triumph, he has proven to be a player who can make a difference in big games. Fans will be eager to see him continue to shine as the team strives for success this season.

Everyone at Midas wishes Riley the best of luck for the rest of the season.
